Accepting Electronic Payments
Exhibitors may accept payments for book sales electronically, but they are responsible for their own WiFi Internet connection.
Two tables are reserved for authors who are unable to attend the New Orleans African Book Festival but would like to get the word out about their books. For the nominal fee of $25.00, you may ship a maximum of 10 books to be placed on an exhibitor’s table. The exhibitor’s table will be manned by a festival worker for the duration of the fair. Your name and the title of your book will be announced at strategic times during the festival so interested individuals can stop by the table to receive a complementary copy of your book. Within five days of the festival, you will receive a mailing list with names and email addresses of the people who received your book, so you can follow-up with them and build your readership. If you are interested in this opportunity, then email Ms. Diana Carey at email@example.com to discuss the details of shipping and payment.
Literary Awards Show
The African American Literary Awards show is sponsored by Word Lovers Book & Literary Club (WLBLC) to bring increased recognition to the hundreds of exemplary titles published each year by African-American authors. If you can bring an assistant with you to the festival, you are encouraged to do so while you attend the awards show. The show and the festival will occur simultaneously so please ensure that your table is manned if you attend the literary show. Winners need to be present to receive awards and those entries submitted will be considered.
Books released between January 1, 2016 and February 1, 2019 are eligible. Authors are to select the category in which the book(s) should be judged. Submission for more than one category is acceptable, but each requires a $30.00 entry fee per title, per category. For example, if you want your book considered for the best cover art award and for the outstanding fiction award, then the entry fee is $60.00 because it is two different categories. Similarly, if you want two different books considered for the same category, then your entry fee is still $60.00 because it is two different titles although the category is the same.
All books entered become the property of Word Lovers Book and Literary Club. Send one copy of your book for each category entered. The entry fee is due at the time the entry form is completed.
